First look

See how an AI, playing a first-time visitor, reads your page’s first screen from a screenshot.

Jalaran First look reads the first screen of a page or app from a screenshot, playing a first-time visitor, and answers four questions: what it is, who it is for, whether it is free, and what to click first.

Who First look is for

For founders, designers and testers who have looked at their own landing page so often that they can no longer see it fresh. It is a quick check before a launch or a redesign, and a prompt for the questions to put to real visitors.

What First look does

A visitor decides within seconds whether a page is for them, and the four questions they answer silently are the ones First look answers out loud. It reads only what is visible on the first screen, before any scrolling, and says when the screen does not answer a question at all, which is often the most useful finding. Your browser crops the screenshot to that first screen, as a phone or a laptop would show it, and sends nothing else. The screenshot is read on Jalaran's own servers, never by a third-party AI service, and it is never stored: your account keeps only the four answers and the name of the first look, until you delete them. The answers are an estimate standing in for a person at first sight, which makes them a good start for a five-second test with real people and no replacement for one.

  • Four first impression answers from one screenshot
  • Only the first screen is sent, cropped in your browser
  • The screenshot is never stored, only the answers
  • Says plainly when the screen does not answer a question

How First look works

  1. Take a screenshot

Of your landing page, pricing page or app screen, as a visitor first sees it.

  2. Check the first screen

The preview shows exactly what will be sent: the part above the fold, cropped in your browser.

  3. Read the four answers

What it is, who it is for, whether it is free and what to click first, from the visible screen only.

  4. Ask real people

Use the gaps it found as the questions for a quick test with actual visitors.

What First look does not do

First look is one reading by a language model, not a panel of people, so it cannot tell you what your audience thinks, how a page performs, or whether a design is accessible. It sees a still image only: no animation, no hover states, nothing below the first screen and nothing behind a click. Text that is very small in the screenshot may be misread. Screenshots must be PNG or JPEG, and are made smaller in your browser to send at most 1 MB.

Common questions

Is my screenshot stored?
No. It is read to answer you and then dropped. Your account keeps only the four answers and the name of the first look, and you can delete them at any time.
Why only the first screen?
Because that is what a visitor judges a page on before deciding to scroll. Your browser crops the screenshot to the part a phone or a laptop shows first, and the preview shows exactly that part.
Can it replace a user test?
No. It is one AI reading the page at first sight, which is useful for spotting what the screen leaves unsaid, and a reason to ask real people rather than a substitute for asking them.
