Who Graph is for

For anyone facing a blank Zettelkasten and a pile of material that ought to be in it. Vault rewards a dense graph and punishes an empty one, and Graph is the shortest path from unstructured text to a graph with something in it.

What Graph does

Graph runs in the opposite direction to Vault. Vault builds a graph from links a person types, so every note starts blank; Graph reads text nobody has turned into notes yet and surfaces what is already in it as candidates — the people, concepts and things, and the relationships between them. Confirming a candidate calls Vault’s own note-creation path, so the note arrives real, properly linked, and indistinguishable from one you wrote by hand. Nothing is created until you confirm it.

How Graph works

Extraction over-produces on purpose; you are the filter, and rejecting is as fast as accepting.

What Graph does not do

Graph works on text you paste; it does not crawl, fetch a URL or read a file, and there is no bulk import. It has no visualisation of its own — the graph you look at is Vault’s, because a second concept map would be a second source of truth about the same connections. Extraction is a language-model judgement and over-produces deliberately, so the review step is not optional. It is upstream of Vault, not a replacement for it.

Common questions

Does it create notes automatically?

No. Extraction produces candidates and nothing is written until you confirm it. Auto-creating notes would fill your vault with entities you did not want and could not easily find again.

Why does it not have its own graph view?

Because Vault already has one, and two visualisations of the same connections would eventually disagree. Graph feeds Vault; Vault is where you look at the result.
