For anyone writing something long enough that the document itself becomes hard to manage — a thesis, a dissertation, a substantial report. The specific problem is that a 60,000-word document in one file stops being navigable, and progress becomes impossible to feel.

What Draft does

Draft breaks a long document into ordered sections you can reorder and track independently, each with its own word-count goal and status, so progress is visible as structure rather than as an intimidating total. You write in clean Markdown. AI critique runs when you ask for it and never rewrites your text — it comments, which is the correct relationship between a machine and a document you have to defend. How Draft works

What Draft does not do

Draft does not format citations — that is Cite — and it does not produce a typeset PDF or a journal template, so final formatting happens in your word processor or LaTeX. There is no collaboration, track-changes or supervisor comment thread, which for a thesis is a real limitation worth knowing before you commit. AI critique never edits your text, so nothing is improved without you doing it.
