Who KPI is for

For anyone monitoring measures that never finish — response time, churn, error rate, applications per week. These are not goals with an end state, and tracking them in a goal tool makes both harder to read.

What KPI does

KPI is the monitoring counterpart to Goal’s bounded objectives: boards hold metrics, metrics hold logged values, and status is direction-aware, so a metric where lower is better is not shown as failing when it falls. That sounds small and is the thing generic dashboards most often get wrong. Trend is computed across logged values, AI suggests metrics worth tracking for a given area, and values can be synced manually from Apply and Network.

How KPI works

Create a board
A board per area, so unrelated metrics are not read against each other.
Define metrics with a direction
Whether up is good or bad. This is what makes the status meaningful rather than decorative.
Log values over time
The history is what produces the trend. A single reading is not a metric.

What KPI does not do

KPI has no automatic data collection — no integrations, no APIs, no database connections — so values are logged by you or synced manually from two Jalaran modules. That makes it best for a modest number of metrics you genuinely care about rather than a wall of charts. It shows status and trend and does not diagnose why a metric moved.

Common questions

How is this different from Goal?

Goal tracks bounded quarterly objectives that finish. KPI tracks ongoing health measures that never do. Mixing them makes both harder to read, which is why they are separate modules.

Does it connect to my data sources?

No. There are no integrations or API connections. Values are logged manually, which in practice keeps you to metrics you actually care about.

What does direction-aware mean?

Each metric declares whether higher or lower is better, so a falling error rate shows as healthy rather than as a decline. Generic dashboards get this wrong constantly.
