Salary

Jalaran Salary gives a compensation estimate with its uncertainty stated plainly, and lets you rehearse the negotiation against four scored counterpart personas.

Who Salary is for

For anyone who has an offer and has never negotiated one, which is where most of the money in a career is lost. The benchmark is context; the rehearsal is what actually changes the outcome.

What Salary does

Salary produces a benchmark for a role and market — and says clearly that it is a language-model estimate rather than survey data, because a confident number nobody can justify is worse than an honest range. The substantial half of the module is the negotiation simulator: four counterpart personas, each behaving differently under pressure, scoring how you handle the conversation. Rehearsing the moment where you are asked for a number and have to not fill the silence is the practice that pays for itself.

  • Compensation estimate with its limitations stated plainly
  • Four negotiation personas with distinct behaviour
  • Scored practice with structured feedback
  • Case-style structure carried over from the interview trainer

How Salary works

  1. Set the role and market

What you are being offered and where. The estimate comes back with its caveats attached.

  2. Read the benchmark as context

It is a model estimate, not survey data, and the module says so rather than dressing it as research.

  3. Pick a counterpart persona

Four personas that behave differently — the accommodating one teaches you less than the difficult one.

  4. Rehearse and get scored

Structured feedback on how you handled anchoring, silence, and the moment you were asked for a number.

What Salary does not do

The benchmark is a language-model estimate, not market survey data, and it is labelled that way everywhere it appears — do not walk into a negotiation citing it as research. It has no access to real compensation databases and cannot know a specific company’s bands, equity terms or internal parity constraints. The simulator rehearses conversation, not law: for contract terms, take advice from someone qualified to give it.

Common questions

Where does the salary estimate come from?

A language model, and the module states that plainly. It is not survey data and is not connected to any compensation database, so treat it as rough context and verify against real sources before you quote a number.

Why do the caveats appear so prominently?

Because a confident figure that cannot be justified is worse than an honest range. The negotiation practice is where the real value is; the benchmark is context around it.

What do the four personas do differently?

They behave differently under pressure — some concede, some push back, some go quiet and wait for you to negotiate against yourself. The difficult ones are the ones worth repeating.
